As the coronavirus pandemic continues to rampage, more and more PGA Tour events are being postponed or cancelled.

Of the major tournaments, both The Masters and the PGA Championship have been officially postponed. The USGA is officially sticking to the original June 18 starting date for the US Open, but that is almost certain to change. The host course is Winged Foot in Mamaroneck, NY, which is in the epicenter of the pandemic.

The Open Championship is scheduled to begin on July 16 at Royal St. George’s in Kent, England.

And, of course, this is a Ryder Cup year. There have been rumors that the event will be cancelled. No official decision has been announced.

No one really knows what the rest of the 2020 season will look like, or if there will be one. While we can all agree that there are more important things going on in the world, a little golf action would offer a welcome break. More importantly, it would mean that the pandemic is somewhat under control and that we’re returning to some sort of normalcy.

The best case scenario looks like a late summer and early fall jam-packed with major championship golf. That would be fun to watch.
