Format

Tournaments are contested using a Modified Stableford Points System.

Points Are Earned on Each Hole Based on the Following:

Albatross: 10 points

Eagle: 7 points

Birdie: 4 points

Par: 2 points

Bogey: 1 point

Double Bogey or More: 0 points

A player who can’t make at least a bogey on a hole MUST pick up in order to keep the pace of play going.

Point Quotas

A player’s initial Point Quota is determined by subtracting his verifiable USGA handicap from 36. If you do not have an official USGA handicap, you can still play in SFGT Tournaments. We will work with you to establish an initial point quota. Please call 251-379-0825 or mail joey@southernfairwaysgolf.com to begin that process.

Example:

A player with a 12 handicap will start with a Point Quota of 24.

36 – 12 = 24

New players will be limited to PLUS 4 in the first tournament only. After the first tournament, there is no limit.

Point Quotas are determined by averaging the player’s Points Earned in each tournament. CLICK HERE for the complete explanation and a current list of Current Point Quotas.

SFGT Cup Points

Points are awarded at each event based on the player’s finish in his flight. Bonus Points are awarded for his position relative to the entire field.

Points are awarded to players based on performance in each tournament. Points are awarded in two ways:

1- Players who finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each flight receive points as follows:

1st: 50 Points
2nd: 30 Points
3rd: 20 Points
4th: 10 Points
5th: 9 Points
6th: 8 Points
7th: 7 Points
8th: 6 Points
9th: 5 Points
10th: 4 Points

2 – Players also receive points based on performance against the entire field.

If there are 57 players in the entire field, the player who is the “Most Over Quota” receives 57 points, the player who finishes second receives 56 points, and so on, with the player who is “Most Under Quota” receiving 1 point.

SFGT Cup Points ARE awarded in Team Events. Points are SPLIT between the two players.

3 – SFGT Members receive 10 Bonus Points for wining the CTP Prize.

The player with the most points following the Tour Championship will receive the SFGT Cup Presented by Sea-Tow.  Cup Points are increased in the Tour Championship, as follows: 1st Place: 75 Points, 2nd Place: 45 Points, 3rd Place: 30 Points. Field Points are awarded as normal.

The TOP 20 players in the SFGT Cup standings following the Tour Championship are eligible to compete in the Team Challenge. The Team Challenge is the tour’s Ryder Cup style event. The players will be split into two teams of 10 players. If any player is unable to participate, he will be replaced by the next available player on the points list.

Player Conduct

All players are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate way at all times. The Southern Fairways Golf Tour reserves the right to disqualify, suspend, and expel players who are deemed to have acted inappropriately.

Any intentional violation of the Rules of Golf will not be tolerated.

CLICK HERE for complete tournament rules.

Dress

Collared shirts and soft spikes are required. A mock is considered to be a collar. Denim is not allowed. Shorts should be of an appropriate length.

Pace of Play

It is our goal to finish the round in 4:15. Please do your best to accomplish this goal. Please play ready golf. If another player is away, but he is not ready, you are allowed to play your shot.

If you can’t make at least a bogey on a hole, YOU MUST PICK UP. Zero points will be earned on that hole.

Players have a maximum of three minutes to look for a lost ball. All players should assist with the search.

Following Play

The Live Scoring should be finalized immediately upon completion of the final hole. This is done by entering the scores for that hole and clicking the DONE button. The player who is keeping the paper scorecard will compare each player’s point total with the player who is keeping the live score. If they match, nothing further is required. If they do not match, it is up to the two scorekeepers to confer with the group and determine which score is accurate. The correct score should always be indicated on the LIVE SCORING website. It is the official score.

The Southern Fairways Golf Tour is designed to be a fun and fair place for golfers of all skill levels to compete. We appreciate your assistance and support in helping us achieve this goal.

Thanks for playing on the Southern Fairways Golf Tour!
