Gulf Shores, Ala. (May 25, 2021) – Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation of its award-winning golf course, clubhouse and Racquet Club. The golf course renovation project and Racquet Club enhancements were led by Honours Golf Founder Bob Barrett.

During the six-month golf course renovation project, Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club’s three nine-hole courses (Marsh, Lakes and Cypress) underwent extensive bunker renovations with bunkers being removed, reshaped and relocated to provide new strategic design features. In addition, cart paths throughout the 27-hole facility were repaired or replaced. Trees were removed and trimmed to increase air circulation and improve agronomic conditions, while the forest floor was cleared of undergrowth. Golf guests will also take note of the Club’s new fleet of E-Z-Go golf carts. The 27-hole golf course opened for play in 1995 and was originally designed by Earl Stone.

Off the golf course, Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club’s 8,000 sq. ft. clubhouse was also renovated. Enhancements over the last six months include a new roof, air conditioning system, new flooring, fresh paint, new fitness equipment, laser graded resurfaced tennis courts, salt water indoor pool, landscaping and more. A new food truck has also been added to provide another culinary option for members and guests. Landscaping around the clubhouse was also refreshed and the club’s signature pier and boardwalk have been renewed.

“After a tough year filled with the pandemic and hurricanes, we are encouraged by what the future holds at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club in 2021 and beyond,” said Honours Golf Founder Bob Barrett. “Gulf Shores has always been a special place to us, the enhancements and upgrades made to the courses and clubhouse create a golf experience that is truly exceptional.”

The Racquet Club at Peninsula, a private facility open only to those living in the community or those staying in the on-site condominiums, has also been enhanced. The Racquet Club’s eight tennis courts were resurfaced and four new pickleball courts were added. The Clubs fitness center also received new fitness equipment and the indoor saltwater pool was refurbished.

Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club is located directly next to the Bon Secour Wildlife Preserve and winds through over 800 acres of beautiful live oaks, cypress trees and natural vegetation. In addition to the beautiful scenery, commonly scene wildlife includes alligators and eagles. For more information on Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club visit www.peninsulagolfclub.com.
