Shawn Freese has been named as the new general manager of Lagaoon Park and Gateway Park golf courses in Montgomery, AL.

Freese is a Montgomery native, and has more than 14 years experience in golf instruction and operations. Freese has been the head golf professional at the two courses for the last 11 years. He previously managed golf operations at Montgomery’s Cotton Golf Club.

Freese will work with Indigo Sports, a division of Troon, and the City of Montgomery to manage the golf facilities and oversee daily course operations.

 

“Not only is Shawn dedicated to growing the game and enhancing the golf experiences at Lagoon Park and Gateway Park golf courses, he has also proven himself as a valuable asset to our team,” said Dana Schultz, Troon’s regional director of operations. “He has worked with the company for more than eleven years and knows and understands the Montgomery market. He also has an established record of producing results. We are excited to see him take these courses to a new level.”

Lagoon Park Golf Course has long served Montgomery area golfer with its 18-hole golf course and lighted practice range. The golf course is part of a multi-purpose sports facility complete with a softball complex and tennis center that is owned by the City of Montgomery.

Gateway Park Golf Course features a 9-hole golf course, and large practice facility. FootGolf is also a part of the fun at Gateway Park. Gateway’s FootGolf Course is one of three courses in Alabama certified by the American FootGolf League (AFGL).
