Following several years of speculation and rumor, Topgolf is now set to tee off in Mobile, AL. The golf entertainment complex will be located in the McGowin Park shopping center in the location previously occupied by the Hollywood Movie Theatre.

The Mobile City Council and the Mobile County Commission are each expected to contribute $1.25 million in subsidies to capital expenses according to the 18-page agreement.

The commission has a Monday meeting scheduled to vote on its portion of the incentive package. A Topgolf representative is expected to attend the meeting and provide additional details.

The city council will follow with a meeting on Tuesday, with a vote scheduled for August 30th.

Early details about the project describe it as a multi-story facility hosting 60 hitting bays. More than 150 full and part-time jobs are expected to be generated.

The overall cost of the project is expected to be $22 million. Construction is expected to begin in October and be finalized sometime next year.

There are currently 70 Topgolf locations in the United States, with 9 more listed as “coming soon”.

Birmingham and Huntsville are the two current locations in Alabama.

TimberCreek Golf Club, in Daphne, AL, offers Toptracer Range. The Beau Rivage Casino, Biloxi, MS, features a Topgolf Swing Suite. Both are part of the Topgolf Entertainment Group family.
