“Golf tips are like aspirin: One may do you good, but if you swallow the whole bottle, you’ll be lucky to survive.” — Harvey Penick
Be honest. No one reading this magazine has everything in their game figured out. If you’re finally hitting your drives long and straight, your putter needs attention. If you putt like Spieth, your short game is lacking. We all need help! And most of us could use help in every aspect.
Harvey Penick nailed it. If you try to remember more than a few tips at a time, you’re going to corkscrew yourself into the perennial ryegrass and vow you’re never playing this stupid game again. (Of course, the latter we honestly do at least once in each round anyway.)
That’s sound advice for life in general. Change one thing for the positive each week. Try to make a new habit of cutting back on the sweet teas, parking a little further away at Publix, or sprinkling date nights back into the calendar. Maybe try bookending your day with some knowledge and add 30 minutes of reading before work or before bed. We all need improvement in different ways, and the surest way to better yourself is one tip at a time.
