Daytona Beach is widely known for its sun-soaked beaches and the adrenaline-pumping excitement of its world-renowned speedway. However, tucked away within this lively coastal region lies a treasure trove for golf enthusiasts. With a selection of superb courses, each offering its own unique challenges and scenic beauty, the Daytona Beach area has become a haven for those seeking to mix in a few rounds on the links.

Golf

With nearly twenty courses in the vicinity, Daytona Beach offers something to cater to every golfer’s desires.

We took a couple of days to get acquainted with the links, but our visit wasn’t all about golf. Daytona has so much to offer, after all! Let’s take a look at some of the golfing highlights.

Boasting two championship courses, the Jones Course and the Hills Course, LPGA International offers a sensational golf experience. Designed by legendary golfers Rees Jones and Arthur Hills, both courses are meticulously crafted to challenge players of all skill levels while providing a backdrop of natural beauty.

The Jones Course, known for its strategic bunkers and undulating fairways, challenges the player to test their precision and strategy. On the Hills Course, players experience a leisurely round amidst the picturesque landscape, complete with rolling hills and tranquil water features. With immaculately maintained fairways and greens, LPGA International guarantees a memorable golfing adventure.

Since 1994, LPGA International has proudly served as the official home of the LPGA Tour. This renowned club garnered its reputation by hosting many LPGA Tour Championships and currently is the venue for the final stage of the LPGA Tour Qualifying School.

New Smyrna Beach Golf Club is a living testament to the golden era of golf design. Crafted by the renowned Donald Ross, the layout exudes an old-school charm that resonates with the true spirit of the game.

One of the true treasures of New Smyrna Beach Golf Club is its meticulously maintained paspalum greens. Gently sloping and true rolling, they showcase the excellence of both design and condition.

It was an absolute joy to play this historic course with near perfect greens!

That’s just a preview of some of the fantastic golf available in the Daytona Beach area. Many hotels partner with the courses to offer stay and play packages. Activities

The Ponce Inlet Lighthouse, is a historic and iconic landmark, is the tallest lighthouse in the state of Florida, measuring 175 feet.

The lighthouse was completed in 1887 and the structure is characterized by its distinct red-brick masonry and black lantern room, which give it a classic and timeless appearance.

The lighthouse was completed in 1887 and is characterized by its distinct red-brick masonry and black lantern room, which give it a classic and timeless appearance. Visitors have the opportunity to climb the 203 steps to the top, a challenge I quickly accepted. The view is spectacular, and I highly recommend making the climb, but be prepared to have wobbly legs afterwards.

The Smithsonian-affiliated Museum of Arts & Sciences, which stands as Central Florida’s foremost institution for art, science, and history. The Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art displays and celebrates Florida’s artistic heritage. Both are highly recommended for those days when you need a little break from the course or the beach.

The Daytona Speedway Tour offers a thrilling behind-the-scenes glimpse into the iconic Daytona International Speedway, often hailed as the “World Center of Racing.” Guided by knowledgeable hosts, visitors get to explore the hallowed grounds where legendary races like the Daytona 500 have unfolded. From the high-banked turns of the track to the historic garages and Victory Lane, this tour immerses guests in the heart of NASCAR history and provides an unforgettable experience for racing enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

The World’s Most Famous Beach

The “World’s Most Famous Beach,” stretches for twenty-three miles along the Atlantic Ocean. Powdery white sands meet the gentle waves, creating an idyllic setting for beachgoers, surfers, and families alike. The beach offers more than just sun and surf; it’s a hub of activity. Visitors can explore a wide range of water sports, from jet skiing to paddleboarding, or simply relax and soak in the warm Florida sunshine. With an array of beachfront amenities, including dining, shopping, and entertainment options, Daytona Beach truly lives up to its renowned title, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking the quintessential beach experience.

Let’s Eat!

Daytona Beach is a food lover’s paradise! There are countless fantastic dining options, and many of them are right on the beach. From casual spots with toes-in-the-sand vibes to upscale restaurants, the culinary scene here is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

Rose Villa, nestled in the historic heart of Ormond Beach, Florida, is a comfortable and inviting restaurant that marries Southern-inspired cuisine with a touch of classic elegance. The signature southern fried chicken is a menu favorite, alongside a curated selection of craft cocktails and a diverse array of wines.

Rose Villa’s roots trace back to the late 1800s when it was established as a bed and breakfast in 1901. Serving as an exclusive retreat adjacent to Henry Flagler’s renowned Ormond Hotel, it provided a private haven for esteemed guests seeking a more secluded experience. After thriving for years, the building transitioned through various roles, eventually showing signs of age.

In 2007, owner Bill Jones breathed new life into the original Rose Villa, restoring it to its Victorian splendor.

Today, Rose Villa extends a refined yet relaxed ambiance, epitomizing Southern hospitality. Whether patrons gather at the bar for convivial cocktails and conversation, or indulge in a leisurely dining experience, they are met with an undeniable charm that resonates throughout the establishment.

The dining options are seemingly endless in the Daytona Beach area. Whether you’re craving a mouthwatering lobster roll from Crabbie’s Oceanside or ready to dive into the diverse burger options at BurgerTen at One Daytona, there’s no shortage of culinary delights to discover.

As you can tell, we came for the golf, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Daytona Beach on and off the course! We’re already looking forward to a return visit and highly recommend adding it to your list of must-visit destinations!
