The Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), headed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is set to launch its inaugural season on tonight (Tuesday, January 7th). Matches will take place in the cutting-edge, 250,000-square-foot SoFi Center, located at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Owned by the TMRW Sports Group and in partnership with the PGA Tour, TGL promises a groundbreaking addition to professional golf. The regular season will feature 15 matches from early January to early March, culminating in the top four teams advancing to the semifinals on March 17 and 18. The season concludes with a best-of-three finals for the SoFi Cup on March 24 and 25.
Unique Competition Format
TGL will showcase six teams, each consisting of four PGA Tour golfers. Matches are structured to maximize intensity and excitement, split into two distinct sessions:
Session 1: Triples – A nine-hole, 3-on-3 alternate-shot format.
Session 2: Singles – Head-to-head competition over six holes, with each player tackling two holes.
Adding to the challenge is a 40-second shot clock for each stroke, with violations resulting in a one-stroke penalty. Every hole is worth one point, and in the event of a tie, overtime determines the winner with a closest-to-the-pin challenge.
The opening match will feature New York Golf Club (Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young) against The Bay Golf Club (Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry).
Enhanced Fan Experience
To better engage with fans, players will wear microphones, offering real-time insights into their strategies and emotions. The arena is designed to create an intimate and immersive viewing experience.
Watching TGL
Fans can catch all the action on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN+, with matches available for streaming. Fubo also offers access, including a free trial.
