Round 1 Recap – Thursday, April 10
Justin Rose emerged as the early leader, delivering a remarkable 7-under 65. This performance marked the fifth time in his career that Rose has led after the first round at the Masters, setting a new tournament record. His round included eight birdies, showcasing his precision and experience on the course.
Trailing Rose by three strokes are world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, 2024 runner-up Ludvig Åberg, and Corey Conners, each carding a 4-under 68. Scheffler’s round was highlighted by two impressive long putts on holes 4 and 16, compensating for some inconsistencies in his ball-striking.
Bryson DeChambeau and Tyrrell Hatton are positioned at 3-under, while a group including Akshay Bhatia, Jason Day, Harris English, and Aaron Rai sit at 2-under.

Interesting Note: 18 of the last 19 Masters Champions have been within 4 strokes of the lead after the opening round.
