Rory McIlroy achieved his lifelong dream of winning The Masters. The victory is especially historic, with McIlroy completing the career Grand Slam and becoming the sixth golfer in history to win all four major championships. This places him alongside legends such as Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, and Gene Sarazen.

The final round was filled with drama on golf’s most iconic stage. McIlroy, who held a four-shot lead midway through the round, battled his own nerves and a hard-charging Justin Rose before winning in a sudden-death playoff. He made an inexplicable double bogey on the 13th hole and missed a five-foot par putt on the 18th, which led to the playoff. But there were moments of greatness, including a towering, hooking 7-iron across the pond on No. 15, which set up an easy two-putt birdie.

McIlroy secured the victory by striking a gap wedge to three feet on the first playoff hole and making the birdie putt after Rose missed from 15 feet.

The win marked McIlroy’s first major title since 2014 and was particularly emotional, as it came after several near-misses at Augusta. It wasn’t easy, but winning The Masters, and joining golf’s most elite club, was never intended to be easy.

Enjoy these highlights of what will long be remembered as one of the most electric Masters Tournaments of all time.
