The Auburn Men’s Golf Team shot a 24-under par total of 816 over three days of stroke play at the SEC Men’s Golf Championship at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simon Island, GA. The total was 16 strokes better than second-place Vanderbilt.

The performance earned the Tigers the top seed in the match play portion of the tournament which will determine the SEC Champion. Auburn will face #8 seed South Carolina in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The other matchups will be No. 2 Vanderbilt against No. 7 Arkansas, No. 3 Texas A&M against No. 6 Georgia, and No. 4 Kentucky against No. 5 Tennessee.

The match winners will play in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. The finals will played on Sunday morning. Semi-final and final round action will be aired on the SEC Network.

Rebula shot a 54-hole total of eight-under par 202, which was good enough to get into a playoff with his teammate Graysen Huff. Rebula took the individual title with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole. His 67 was the low score of the day on Friday. Huff shot a 69. The pair finished two shots ahead of the third place finisher, Will Gordon of Vanderbilt.

“This is a true honor,” Rebula said. “Coming from South Africa, I did not know what the SEC was until I started playing and, seeing the amount of great players, to have my name on that board is truly an honor.

 “It is a little bittersweet because Graysen and I are close friends.,” Rebula added. “I have a ton of respect for him for his golf and as a person. He’s a great leader for our team. He always does the right thing. He’s a great friend and an unbelievable teammate.”

With players like Rebula and Graysen leading the way, the Tigers have a great chance of winning the SEC Championship.
