This week, Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama, will host the final stage of LPGA Q-School, and one name to watch is Kim Kaufman of Fort Worth, TX. I recently had the privilege of playing a practice round with Kim at the course, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget.
Kim’s return to competitive golf over the past year has been nothing short of extraordinary. This time last year, she was in the midst of a breast cancer diagnosis.
After spending much of the past year undergoing treatments, she is now looking to earn her way on the biggest state in women’s professional golf. Kim approached the situation with unwavering determination, grace, and quiet strength. On the course, her focus and skill were impressive, a reminder that golf is as much about mindset as it is about mechanics.
Magnolia Grove will be buzzing this week as fans gather to watch the next generation of LPGA stars earn their tour cards. The field features 116 players competing for just 25 spots. That’s a formidable challenge for any player. Even so, it’s far from the toughest test Kim has faced in the past year.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or someone who appreciates a story of perseverance, this is your chance to cheer for a true inspiration. Kim Kaufman isn’t just competing for an LPGA Tour spot; she’s proving that courage, determination, and grace can carry you through even the toughest challenges.
Editor’s Note:
The Final Stage of LPGA Q-School will be held at Magnolia Grove on Thursday, December 4 through Monday, December 8. The event is open to the public at no charge.
Play will be conducted on the Falls and Crossings courses. Kim Kaufman will tee off at 8:22 AM in Round 1 (Thursday on the Crossings Course).
