PGA Tour: Kurt Kitayama Secures Second PGA TOUR Win at 3M Open
Kurt Kitayama fired a scintillating final-round 65 (−7) to claim victory at the 3M Open, finishing with a total score of 266 (−14). He edged runner-up Sam Stevens by one stroke, who posted a solid 68 in his final round, ending at 267 (−13).
Kitayama’s back nine was especially impressive, as he carded four birdies with no bogeys, including a clutch birdie on the 17th hole that all but sealed the win. Over the course of the tournament, Kitayama hit 82% of fairways and 78% of greens in regulation, showing excellent ball-striking and course management.
He held off strong challenges from Sam Stevens and rising star Jordan Spieth, who finished three strokes back. Stevens stayed close throughout, but couldn’t match Kitayama’s blistering back nine.
This marks Kitayama’s second PGA Tour victory and moves him into the top 25 of the FedEx Cup standings, positioning him well for the upcoming playoffs.
Next PGA TOUR Event: The Wyndham Championship (August 3-6) — The final regular-season event before the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Senior Tour: Padraig Harrington Claims Senior Open Title
Padraig Harrington captured the Senior Open at Sunningdale with a total of 280 (−8), narrowly defeating runner-up Bernhard Langer by two strokes. Harrington posted rounds of 69-70-70-71, displaying steady, controlled golf throughout the tournament.
His final round included four birdies and just one bogey, with especially strong putting on the back nine. Harrington’s experience was evident as he held his nerve under pressure, hitting 75% of fairways and 70% of greens in regulation.
He fended off tough competition from Bernhard Langer and Miguel Ángel Jiménez, both seasoned champions who pushed Harrington but ultimately fell short.
This victory comes just a month after Harrington’s win at the US Senior Open, and is his third senior major victory. The popular Irishman also won three major championships during his stint before joining the senior circuit.
Next Event: The Boeing Classic (August 4-6)
LPGA Tour: Lottie Woad Shines in Pro Debut, Wins Women’s Scottish Open
In a storybook start to her professional career, 21-year-old Lottie Woad took the ISPS HANDA Women’s Scottish Open at Dundonald Links with a total score of 274 (−14). Woad carded rounds of 69-67-70-68, finishing three strokes ahead of runner-up Brooke Henderson, who posted 277 (−11).
Woad’s precision with mid-irons and consistent putting — averaging just 1.7 putts per hole over the weekend — set her apart. Notably, she went bogey-free in her final round, showcasing remarkable poise for a rookie. This win follows her impressive amateur victory a few weeks ago, where she also secured a title before turning pro.
Brooke Henderson and rising star Atthaya Thitikul were key contenders throughout the week but couldn’t close the gap on Woad’s steady play.
This victory earns Woad immediate LPGA status and a major boost in the Rolex Rankings.
Next Event: The AIG Women’s Open (August 10-13) — The final major of the LPGA season.
