ABOUT THE TOUR
The Southern Fairways Golf Tour is comprised of a series of golf tournaments throughout the Gulf Coast area. The tour is open to amateur golfers and local PGA Club Professionals. Tournaments are flighted, giving each player the opportunity to compete against golfers of similar ability.
Scoring is based on a Modified Stableford Format. Our 36 Point Format is explained below. We use this system so that one bad hole doesn’t ruin a good day. It also helps with pace of play. If a player can’t make a bogey or better on a hole, he should pick up. No points will be earned on the hole, but there will be plenty of other opportunities to make up for it!
What is Unique About the Southern Fairways Golf Tour
- Stableford Format (36 Point System)
- Point Quotas are averaged throughout the year. This is a rolling average of the last 4 tournament scores. We feel this is the best way to keep it fair for all players.
- Players earn SFGT Cup points at each tournament. The SFGT Cup will be awarded to the player with the most points at the end of the year.
- The Top 20 players on the SFGT Cup points list will be eligible to play in the Team Challenge at the end of the year. This is our “Ryder Cup” style event.
- We use “live scoring”, which allows the players to view the scoreboard on their phones during each tournament.
- You don’t have to join the tour to play in our events, but members do receive a number of benefits. The 2023 membership is available HERE.
