Format

The Presidents Cup features 30 matches played over four days, divided into nine four-ball matches, nine foursomes matches, and 12 singles matches. Teams earn one point for each match win, while tied matches after 18 holes result in a half-point for each side. To claim victory, a team must secure 15½ points. If the score ends in a 15-15 tie, both teams share the trophy as co-champions, unlike the Ryder Cup, where the defending team retains the trophy in the event of a tie.

In four-ball matches, each team consists of two players, with each golfer playing their own ball. The team with the player recording the lowest score on a hole wins it. If both teams’ low scores are tied, the hole is halved.

In foursomes, two-player teams alternate hitting the same ball and also alternate teeing off on each hole.

Singles matches are head-to-head match play.
